Tough Cases Don't Have to Mean Extracted Teeth

Many endodontic treatments can save the natural tooth for a lifetime — and the right treatment plan makes all the difference.

Before recommending extraction, we encourage referring doctors to evaluate all possible endodontic treatment options in partnership with our team. The Treatment Options for the Compromised Tooth: A Decision Guide is a trusted clinical resource designed to help general dentists and endodontists collaborate on complex cases. It includes real case examples with radiographs and clinical photographs, clinical considerations for a wide range of conditions, and evidence-based guidance for achieving successful outcomes.

"The Treatment Options Guide is great because it includes so many examples of successful endodontics and healing teeth. It's a good reminder of how to work with my endodontist to save patients' natural teeth whenever possible, and it makes it easier to explain some of the more difficult cases to my patients."

— Mark Mensh, D.M.D., Mays Landing, N.J.

Use the Guide to assess all possible endodontic treatment options before recommending extraction of the natural tooth, and consult with your endodontist partner to develop treatment plans that could preserve the natural dentition. Endodontic Treatment Options

Treatment Options to Save the Natural Tooth

Before recommending extraction, explore the full range of endodontic treatments available at One Endodontics. Use this overview to set realistic expectations with patients and consult with our specialists to develop the best treatment plan for each case.

Root Canal Therapy

The primary treatment for infected or inflamed pulp tissue. Our specialists use advanced rotary instrumentation and 3D imaging to clean, shape, and seal the canals — preserving the natural tooth structure.

Root Canal Retreatment

When a previously treated tooth fails to heal or re-infects, retreatment removes prior filling materials, addresses missed canals or new infection, and reseals the tooth for long-term success.

Apicoectomy & Microsurgery

A minimally invasive surgical option when nonsurgical retreatment is not feasible. The root tip is removed and sealed under high magnification using our operating microscope for precision outcomes.

Vital Pulp Therapy / Pulpotomy

A tooth-preserving alternative for teeth with healthy or partially vital pulp. Bioceramic materials are used to maintain pulp vitality and promote healing, reducing or eliminating the need for full root canal therapy.

Pulp Regeneration

A biologically based procedure for immature permanent teeth with necrotic pulps. Regenerative techniques stimulate continued root development, improving the long-term prognosis and strength of the tooth.

Cracked Teeth & Root Resorption

Complex cases including cracked tooth syndrome and internal or external root resorption require endodontist evaluation. Early diagnosis and tailored treatment plans can often preserve teeth that might otherwise be extracted.
