Common questions

If you're experiencing tooth pain, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, swelling near a tooth, or have been told you may need a root canal — an endodontist is the right specialist to see. Most patients are referred by their general dentist, but you're also welcome to contact us directly.
A root canal removes infected or damaged tissue from inside your tooth, relieves the pain causing you grief, and seals the tooth to prevent future infection. With modern anesthesia and technique, the procedure itself is no more uncomfortable than a routine filling. Most patients are surprised by how easy it is.
Endodontists complete two to five additional years of specialty training beyond dental school, focused entirely on the diagnosis of tooth pain and treatment of the dental pulp. Our doctors perform over 25 root canal procedures per week — a level of volume and focus that makes a measurable difference in outcomes.
Yes — every day. If you're in significant tooth pain, call us immediately. We offer same-day emergency appointments across all four of our Northern Virginia locations and will provide first-aid guidance over the phone while you're on the way.
This happens, and it's exactly what retreatment is for. Our specialists are experienced in diagnosing why a previous root canal has failed and performing retreatment to give the tooth a second chance — even in complex cases.
We accept most major dental insurance plans and will help you verify your coverage before treatment. For out-of-pocket costs, we offer financing through Cherry — flexible payment plans you can apply for in minutes.
